Meeting Minutes 24-25
My name is Claire Denner and I have been the treasurer for St Joseph's PTFA for 7 years. I have 3 children, one who has now left and is at secondary school, and 2 who still attend the school. I have enjoyed my time on the PTFA and think that it is so important that one exists, not only to raise valuable funds for the school but also to bring the school together at events such as the summer fete, film nights, disco’s etc..
- There are loads of reasons why you might want to get involved with the PTFA :
- Feel at home with the school get to know people at the school, from the headteacher and teachers to the other parents
- Understand how the school works
- Help the school do even better
- Be a good role model for your child/children
Any help you can provide is very much appreciated, and in return you'll receive a huge sense of satisfaction.
Claire Sims - Secretary
My name is Claire I am the Secretary of the PTFA. I am a mother of two children. My eldest is in Reception, I have been on the PTFA for a year. In my spare time you will find me with my family and friends or my sheep! I enjoy being a part of the PTFA helping to bring the school together and raise funds for the school to help enrich the school and it’s resources for our children.

About the PTFA
We run events to raise money for the school to buy equipment and resources for St Joseph's school. We also provide opportunities for children and adults alike to get to know each other and have fun.
As well as organising big projects such as the summer fete and school disco, we run social events like family film nights & quiz nights. We also hold raffles, cake sales and coffee mornings.
We try to keep a balance between those events which are aimed primarily at raising funds for the school and those which are purely for entertainment.
Look out for the PTFA news in school newsletters, updating parents on our progress and forthcoming events. Over the years, we are proud to say we have raised thousands of pounds for our school.
This has:
- bought a fantastic range of computer equipment for the IT suite
- helped refurbish the library and stock with interesting books for our children to read
- provided educational and enrichment visits for pupils
- fully refurbished our school nature garden so children can play and learn safely in the area
We’d love to get as many people involved in the PTFA as we can. The more volunteers who help out, the more funds we can raise for our school. It’s also great to get fresh ideas from new faces.
You don’t have to be a committee member to get involved. Some people just help out at the odd event, whilst others get involved in every project, as well as perhaps becoming committee members.
No previous experience is necessary and you can spend as much or as little time as you wish and, although it’s voluntary, job satisfaction is guaranteed by 200+ happy and grateful little faces! It’s also a great way of meeting other parents, making friends and getting to know how the school runs.
If you are interested in getting involved with the committee, we hold monthly meetings (term time only). Or you might want to help us out on an ad hoc basis. Either way, you can talk to one of the committee members, come along to any of our meetings or contact us by emailing ptfa@stjosephs.w-berks.sch.uk.
Andreea Busuioc - Vice Chair
My name is Andreea Busuioc, and I am honored to serve as the Vice Chair of the PTFA. I have been involved with the PTFA for the past year, motivated by my commitment to enhancing our children’s educational experience.
As a mother of two daughters, both attending St. Joseph’s Catholic School—my eldest in Year 4 and my youngest in Year 1—I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of our PTFA's efforts. My participation has been driven by my enjoyment in assisting with various school events and my desire to contribute to our school community.
I believe that education is a priority for every parent, and I take great satisfaction in helping the school enrich its goals and create a joyful environment for our children.
