Ian Clinch - Co - Chair

Hello, my name is Ian. I am the father of 3 daughters at St Joseph’s School. I am joint chair of the PTFA.

My goal is to get everyone working together to fundraise and enrich the kids education.

I have been running a successful animation studio in Newbury for over ten years and in my spare time I enjoy making short movies and involving the kids.

I look forward to working with you all.

Ben Banting - Parent Rep

I am the Parent Rep for the PTFA, but probably better known for being behind the BBQ or in the kitchen at events. I've been involved with the PFTA for at least six years.

I have one child currently at the school and one who has just started year 7, I am passionate about the PTFA supporting the school in giving the children every possible opportunity to enrich their time at the school. I am proud of the level of events the PTFA put on each year and the amount of money raised for the school.

For my day job I work as a senior engineer for a Telecom's company, I have also been involved in first aid and ambulance support in my spare time. I enjoy learning new skills, I hold certificates in food hygeine and reflexology among other things.

If you can help with the PTFA or want to talk more please don't hesitate to grab me in the playground if you see me.

About the PTFA

We run events to raise money for the school to buy equipment and resources for St Joseph's school. We also provide opportunities for children and adults alike to get to know each other and have fun.

As well as organising big projects such as the summer fete and school disco, we run social events like family film nights & quiz nights. We also hold raffles, cake sales and coffee mornings.

We try to keep a balance between those events which are aimed primarily at raising funds for the school and those which are purely for entertainment.

Look out for the PTFA news in school newsletters, updating parents on our progress and forthcoming events. Over the years, we are proud to say we have raised thousands of pounds for our school.

This has:

  • bought a fantastic range of computer equipment for the IT suite
  • helped refurbish the library and stock with interesting books for our children to read
  • provided educational and enrichment visits for pupils
  • fully refurbished our school nature garden so children can play and learn safely in the area

Our next project is to help the school fund the purchase of IT equipment for the school.

We’d love to get as many people involved in the PTFA as we can. The more volunteers who help out, the more funds we can raise for our school. It’s also great to get fresh ideas from new faces.

You don’t have to be a committee member to get involved. Some people just help out at the odd event, whilst others get involved in every project, as well as perhaps becoming committee members.

No previous experience is necessary and you can spend as much or as little time as you wish and, although it’s voluntary, job satisfaction is guaranteed by 200+ happy and grateful little faces! It’s also a great way of meeting other parents, making friends and getting to know how the school runs.

If you are interested in getting involved with the committee, we hold monthly meetings (term time only). Or you might want to help us out on an ad hoc basis. Either way, you can talk to one of the committee members, come along to any of our meetings or contact us by emailing ptfa@stjosephs.w-berks.sch.uk.

PTFA Aims 2019-20

Amy Ludewig - Secretary

Hi, my name is Amy and I have been the secretary of the PTFA for 9 months.
My 2 sons were previous pupils at St Joseph’s and are now both at secondary school.
They both thoroughly enjoyed their time at St Joseph’s and I am happy to remain on the PTFA to give something back to the school. I would really like to see the PTFA hit their target this year to provide every classroom with a new interactive smart screen.
Although I’m kept very busy with my family and my work, I try and attend the gym and Newbury parkrun as much as possible.
